Wednesday June 9^th – The Boston Strikers Absolutely Fabulous Pride Cup

KICK OFF Boston Pride 2010 by playing in the Boston Strikers 7v7 Pride Cup!

4 FABULOUS teams will play—each dedicated to an LGBTQ icon: THE LEATHER DADDIES, DYKES TO WATCH OUT FOR, DIVAS, and SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKERS!

The soccer competition will be fierce and so will the outfits! Get ready for leather harnesses and corner kicks! GRRRL power! and DEFENSE! Platinum wigs and golden goals! Hot pants and handballs! And everyone’s favorite—hot shirtless referees!

All skill levels, genders, and orientations welcomed! (Players must be at least 18 years old). We are looking for players to bring their SOCCER SKILLS and show their PRIDE!

The Details:

PLAY: Women and men register individually, up to 48 slots are available. Players will be divided into 4 teams according to soccer experience and skill level. The 7-a-side games will be 15 minutes each, with a championship and a consolation match. Each team will play 5 games. Games will have HOT SHIRTLESS REFEREES!!!

THE LOOKS: A week before the tournament players will be assigned a team. The team captain will give players guidelines for the “team look.” Each team will be assigned a color (black, plaid, pink/white, and green) as well as suggestions for accoutrements (Mustaches, real and fake! Girl power tattoos and flannel! Wigs and glitter! Hot pants and boas!). These looks are for players and fans! So get ready to get gussied up and PLAY SOME SOCCER!

WHEN and WHERE: Wednesday June 9, from 7:30 to 9:30 PM. At Rotch Field in the South End (on Randolph Street between Harrison and Albany). Check-in and TEAM PHOTOS at 7:30. PLAY begins at 8 sharp. Event is RAIN (except for lightening) OR SHINE. In case of lightening we have Sunday make-up dates available.

SUNDAY PRACTICE: We want to welcome all skill levels to our Absolutely Fabulous Pride Cup, from beginners to soccer divas! Teams will have open access to Rotch Field Sunday June 6 from 4 to 6 to practice, to scrimmage, and to get your outfits together!

PRIZES: The winning team will win fabulous prizes! PRIZES TBD. We have a pair of Blue Man Group tickets to raffle off for our fans!

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS PARTY: After the tournament we will meet to celebrate from 9:30 until closing. Site TBD.

COST: FABULOUS PLAYERS: $20. FABULOUS FANS: $5.

FUNDS FROM THIS TOURNAMENT WILL HELP TO SEND THE BOSTON STRIKERS TO THE GAY GAMES IN COLOGNE GERMANY IN AUGUST!
